U12 to U18
Junior football for players ready to grow
This is where players begin to take the game more seriously while still enjoying the friendships, confidence and belonging that come with club football. Rovers places junior players where they can be challenged, supported and given a fair chance to develop.
How it works
Teams graded to the player
Rovers fields junior teams across the Football Victoria competitions from U12 through to U18, with a U21 side beyond that. Age groups are graded, so a player is placed in the team where they can compete rather than sit at the edges of a level that does not suit them.
Some age groups run more than one team. Where they do, the club aims to keep each squad at a level where players get real game time.
What matters in the junior years
Habits that build good footballers
- Good habits on and off the ball
- Teamwork and communication
- Confidence under pressure
- Respect for coaches, team mates and officials
- A level of competition that fits the player
- A pathway into senior football
The right level matters
Placed where they can improve
Junior players develop best when they are in the right environment. Some players need a stronger challenge. Some need time, confidence and steady coaching. Our aim is to place players where they can compete, improve and enjoy their football.
