Doncaster Rovers - Small Sided Football Minimize

Small SIDED FOOTBALL @ DONCASTER ROVERS SOCCER CLUB

Welcome to Small Sided Football at Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club.  At DRSC our philosophy with regards to introducing our young boys and girls to our great game is simple: Let them experience and enjoy football through a focus on skill development, quality coaching through instruction and self discovery, freedom of expression and with a limited emphasis on the scoreboard in a family friendly enivironment.

We will be adopting the recently released National Curriculum put forward by Football Federation Australia (FFA). The National Curriculum aims to provide national guidance and an integrated and consistent approach to the development of players and coaches throughout  Australia.

At Doncaster  Rovers our approach is to provide: each group with two sessions a week; suitably qualified head coaches; assistant coaches; and a balanced player ratio per coach; All our coaches come equipped with: working with children checks; a minimum of a junior licenced coaching credentials; and prior experience in the management of junior players  Formats for the 2010 season are listed below:

Playing formats

Under 7’s: Throughout the 22 week season it is envisaged that a number of Gala Days will be organised where our young boys and girls will experience the opportunity to see what club vs club competition is about.  Again it should be reiterated that the aim is for player development through skill acquisition and freedom of expression. Results are inconsequential during Gala Days.

Under 9’s: Will operate in an inter club format with formal zone fixtures in ten team leagues. Two divisions will exist (Kangaroos and Joeys) and independent grading will occur for players before the start of the season. Throughout the course of the season players have the freedom to move between the two leagues (Kangaroos and Joeys) based on the coaches discretion and will be based on ability, size of player and individual improvement.

Under 11’s: Will also operate in an interclub format with formal zone fixtures and point tables under the rules and regulations of the FFV Junior Rules of Competition. Two divisions will exist (Kangaroos and Joeys) and independent grading will occur for players before the start of the season. Throughout the course of the season players have the freedom to move between the two leagues (Kangaroos and Joeys) based on the coaches discretion. Player ID cards used in previous years will be required for Under 11 players. It is envisaged that squads will be no larger than 13 in number.

Can we take this opportunity to welcome you to the SSF family at Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club and we hope that you and your family enjoy the experience.
